"A newspaper that gives its reader what the reader wants will last in this competitive world"

Discussed journalists at Suryadatta seminar - ‘Current trends & Opportunities in different segments in print and electronic media’
  • Suryadatta felicitated journalists from various print and electronic media organisations on the eve of National Journalism Day
To salute the spirit of journalism, Suryadatta School of Communication felicitated journalists from different media organisations (print & electronic) across Pune on the eve of National Journalism Day on Nov 15.

Working Chairman, Maharashtra Rajya Hindi Sahityik Academy Dr Damodar Khadse was the chief guest. Other dignitaries present include Dr Keshav Phalke, Chairman, Maharashtra Rajya Loksahitya Samiti, Dr Sunil Deodhar of Akashvani, Pune, Shri Abhilash Khandekar, Maharashtra State chief of Dainik Bhaskar Group and many other veteran journalists.

At the seminar on ‘Current trends & Opportunities in different segments in print and electronic media,’ key-note speaker Abhilash Khandekar said, “Newspapers should understand the needs of people.” A newspaper that gives its reader what the reader wants to read only will last in this competitive world. The biggest challenge before the media is to ensure quality content considering the changing tastes of readers.
Mr Phalke said that journalists should not report just for the sake of it but should be objective and concerned. As the social structure has largely become media-centric, journalism should not remain only a profession. A journalist is responsible for overall development of the society. One does not become successful overnight. It requires tremendous hard-work and will power to achieve success in this field. She/he does not become a journalist because of her/his degrees but because of her/his virtues! The responsibilities of journalists have increased manifold because society has become media-centric.

Following journalists were felicitated with Swami Vivekananda Puraskar- Umesh Ghongade (Sakal), Sameer Kodilkar (Prabhat), Swapnil Pore (Kesari), Dinesh Thite (DNA), Parag Potdar (Lokmat), Arun Nigavekar (Saamana), Swapnil Bapat (Saam), Mandar Gonjari (Star Maaza), Pratibha Chandran (Sahara Samay), Narendra Chavan (Next Gen), Appa Dingankar, Anand Agrawal, Nandkumar Sutar, Arun Mhetre, Advait Mehta and Imtiyaz Jalil.

Marissa G, Member of Rotary International visits Suryadatta on occasion of celebrating Suryadatta’s Rotract Club’s, Bavdhan Campus Second Foundation Year

Enlightens students on “GLOBAL TECH TRENDS”

  • At a talk to Suryadatta business school students, Marissa G. who is in India on behalf of Rotary International from Chicago, spoke on “GLOBAL TECH TRENDS”.
  • She identified 3 trends - “Cloud computing”, “E-Commerce and Mobile Applications”, and “User Experience Design
Marissa G. spoke about the work life in American corporations, with laptops complemented by the iPad and the moving of all data from the PC to the cloud for accessing from anywhere via the Smartphone and iPad. She highlighted the importance of good verbal English communication skills needed during videoconferencing among global team members. It is important to have good communication skills as there is the need for quick and prompt responses in all business situations while dealing with geographically dispersed colleagues and business partners.

At the occasion Marissa G., member of Rotary International from Chicago said, “Almost all major IT companies are already offering certain products and services over the cloud and a Gartner report mentions that by 2015 20% of non-IT Global 500 companies will be cloud service providers. So vast is the market for these innovative delivery platforms.”

Marissa G. also talked about QRcodes (Quick Response Codes). She pointed out that QRcodes are becoming pervasive and all businesses are getting QR (Quick Response) codes for easier tracking in various apps especially to facilitate e-commerce. In US for a product you capture the picture of a QRcode and competitor’s prices for identical products are flashed so the shopper can choose quickly. With augmented reality applications, by 2015 companies will generate 50% web sales through social presence and mobile applications.

She remarked that soon ‘User Experience Design’ will be critical as the website which is easy to use will be the one you will revisit. Ninety percent corporate applications will be supported on personal devices like mobiles and iPads. All this will encourage collaboration and communication with others to increase knowledge and understanding.

A collaborative work style with use of E-groups to keep oneself updated on the latest happenings in your domain and an integrated access to Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter was stressed. Before any meeting these resources are used to be better prepared for the business interaction. Keeping oneself updated with using the latest technology was illustrated by the example of how she realized that iPad opened a whole new world to her when she started using it after seeing that even older colleagues had mastered how to use it!

The emotional turmoil which he subsequently underwent and finally came out of it has been brilliantly portrayed by Mr Negi.

From this one-act play, Mr Negi sends a strong message to youngsters these days who easily succumb to pressures and commit suicide. “It was not easy for me, but I did not stop believing in myself and began worked even harder after that. My family and closest friends stood by me throughout this ordeal and supported me.”

Khasdar, Supriyatai Sule guides and promotes the Financial Independence for women, an initiative of Suryadatta Group of Institutes in Association with Shiv Shakti Tarun Mandal.
The women Reservation Bill is still not being passed by the Parliament and it still lies under a cloud of debate, but this is not deterrent for Rashtravadi Congress Youth leaders and female members, who have initiated various programs for the rural women without taking financial aid from the government.

Founder President & Chairman of Suryadatta Group Of Institutes, Prof. Dr. Sanjay B Chordiya has played a major role in organizing short courses in fashion technology for these women, in various locations in Pune and also dedicating staff from Suryadatta for the courses. Bavdhan Budruk, is a small village just on the outskirts of Pune. Though it is now considered a part of Pune City with its high rise buildings, townships etc., and this development is being limited to the people with financial status. The locals are still deprived of good facilities and jobs, with many leading a hand to mouth existence. This scenario has led President , Youth Rashtravadi Congress, Pune and Panchayat Member (Bavdhan Bk) member Shri Kiran Dagade to start free tailoring and fashion technology classes for women in Bavdhan in association with Suryadatta Institute of Fashion Technology (SIFT). Till now at least 500 women have benefited from this initiative.

As a culmination of this course the women had held an exhibition of clothes tailor by them on the 20th July, 2011, at Suryadatta Bavdhan Campus. This exhibition was blessed by the presence of Khasdar Supriyatai Sule. On this occasion she explained the benefits and importance of packaging & finishing. Supriyatai Sule also requested all the eminent personalities who were present to provide these ladies with opportunities for the sale of their goods. She also touched a very sensitive topic of female feticide & infanticide and explained the need to stop and oppose these practices.

On this occasion Prof. Dr. Sanjay B. Chordiya explained all the various edu -socio activities which have been started for women by Suryadatta Institutes. Shri Kiran Dagade also announced the forthcoming courses for ladies like making beauty products & spices, before thanking all the dignitaries present.

Also present on this occasion were Savitabai Dagade (Z.P President), Shri Babanrao Dagade (ex-Sarpanch), Vaishali Kamble (Sarpanch), Bavdhan Budruk. The program ended with a thought that such programs should be started in every village so that we can become the India which Mahatma Gandhi dreamt of.

Suryadatta plays mentor to Rickshaw Drivers & Housewives
  • Completes its 2nd Batch of Free English speaking & Computer awareness programme for Auto Rickshaw Drivers & Housewives
  • Felicitation ceremony organised on the occasion of completion of 2nd batch in English learning & computer skills at Sahitya Parishad, Tilak Road, 11 am

  • Felicitation done at the hands of Shri Baba Adhav, President of Rickshaw Panchayat & Shri Jayant Umranikar, former Pune Police commissioner
  • Next batch of 80 Rickshaw Drivers to commence from Saturday, July 9, 2011 for six months

Learning is an ongoing process, which has nothing to do with age. Whether you are four or you are forty, you are always keen to learn something new. Drawing inspiration from this, Suryadatta had launched its 2nd batch of English speaking & Computer awareness programs offered voluntarily to Auto Rickshaw Drivers & Housewives free of cost.

This training programme for a batch of 80 persons, comprising 40 auto rickshaw drivers and 40 housewives started in January 2011 and completed successfully on June 24, 2011.

On this occasion, Mr Sanjay Chordiya, Chairperson, Suryadatta Group of Institutes, said, “In the 21st century, knowledge of English and to be able to converse in English is a necessity rather than the need of time. The response to the programme was tremendous from both rickshaw-drivers and housewives and we are awarding certificates to 80 candidates of this programme.”

Certificates were distributed to those who have successfully completed the programme at the hands of Shri Baba Adhav, President of Rickshaw Panchayat & Shri Jayant Umranikar, former Pune Police commissioner and Shri Deepak Shikarpur, who were present as Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively.

Shri Jayant Umranikar said, “Women are the backbone of family system yet their education remains neglected most of the time. Now days English has become common language for communication. Dr Sanjay Chordiya has always been ahead in undertaking such social initiatives. This initiative by an education institute will help our society go ahead and keep pace with time.”

Shri Baba Adhav said, “Rickshaw drivers always aspire to learn these skills but most of the times cannot make it either due to financial or time constraints, or even both. But by offering these courses free of charge, Suryadatta has not only provided a helping hand to them but also awakened their learning spirit. I congratulate Suryadatta for this innovative and useful activity.”

Shri Deepak Shikarpur said, “With globalization everything is becoming high tech” English speaking and Computer learning is the need of the hour. And hence Suryadatta started this initiative of offering this training to various communities of society in a row. Suryadatta is getting overwhelming response to it.

A housewife is life and blood of the family. Her role in the family is as same as the heart and brain in the human body. A learned and trained housewife can bring in health, happiness, soundness and satisfaction to the family in all the respects and facets of life. One such family into many such families will go a long way in building a developed society and nation. Suryadatta has taken one such initiative to train and impart learning to this vital element of the society.

Contents of the course were as follows,

The English Speaking course comprised of:
1. Basic Grammar
2. Words and Sentences formation for daily usage
3. Writing English with different situational examples
4. How to speak clearly so that the other person understands

While the IT/ Computer skills course comprised of:
1. Introduction to computers
2. MS office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Paint, Notepad, Calculator, Calendar
3. Basic Usage of computers for office and home

In the past, Suryadatta has trained more than 2000 school children, 120 Auto Rickshaw Drivers, 500 women and 100 senior citizens. Senior citizens started communicating with their children abroad with the help of knowledge of Computer, Internet and English language. They also started talking to their grand children’s in English, which was up till then little difficult for them.

Auto rickshaw drivers who completed the training in first batch, are now working as a guide to the passengers coming to Pune, and can communicate with them in English. Taking inspiration from them, the second batch had enrolled prior to completion of the training program of first batch itself. And on completion of first batch, second batch followed immediately.

Suryadatta Goes to UK
Our students did just that from out of the good ole 'nursery, “they went to London to visit the Queen” and more. They had been to London though they did not frighten the mouse. Rather, they positioned Brand Suryadatta in the land of the British Queen. As a part of the “Study Tour Abroad” program, the students of P.G.D.M 2009-11 Batch went to the United Kingdom, the tour lasting one good week. The group made their presence felt in what could be termed as one of the most memorable visits for them, visiting prominent Industry, soaking in historical, literary and other landmark places, besides sight seeing and the proverbial shopping.
This was evident everywhere that the Group went, Stratford Upon Avon-Shakespeare's Birthplace, Nash's House & New Place, Anne Hathaway's Cottage, Anne Hathaway's Cottage, Ripley'S Believe It Or Not!, British Museum, Manchester, Madame Tussauds, London Eye, Buckingham Palace, Manchester United Football Club, Tower of London, Palace of Westminster, St. James's Park and so on.

Visiting one of the top most capital cities of the world for a week- London which buzzes with a pulsating energy of its own, and each area of the city having  its own distinct feature, the delight and enthusiasm of our students surely must have set the Thames on fire! The tour to the UK   was an eventful one. It was an exercise in providing the much needed global exposure to students in the academic domain. Apart from the scheduled industry visit and routine sight seeing, a lot was imbibed in terms of international business and cultural diversities. Every aspect of the tour was as interesting as an adventurous journey.

The industrial visit to Cadbury Limited   was a particularly  interesting one. Established in 1847, Cadbury is a wholly owned subsidiary of Schweppes plc. It produces   the finest quality confectionery, chocolate, sweets, cakes, drinks, yoghurts, ice creams and promotional material for all its products. The delegation was led by Ms Snehal Chordiya, Manager-Organization Development and included Kimaya Chordiya, Prasanna Bhuyan, Priyanka Singh, Akshat Shrivastava, Gurvinder Kaur, Ayan Gupta, Vivek Sharma, Ratnadal Sharma . We present here, images of the tour.
