Students’ Code of Conduct

The Suryadatta Group of Institutions through experience has founded certain norms, rules and Regulations for the students of its constituent units. These rules are mandatory to maintain the high quality of standard and discipline in the respective constituent unit and in the institute in general. Including these rules and regulations a code of Conduct for students has been laid down as follows on the points/areas relevant and material for students’ academic and overall growth.

A) Conduct in Campus:

  • Students have to carry I-card with them while in college/Institute campus all the time.
  • Students have to maintain strict discipline as per the direction of competent authority of the Suryadatta Group of Institutes and the Head of the Institution.
  • Students can access the Internet Lab and Library in the campus before and after the classes as per the timetable displayed.
  • Students may use the WiFi facility provided in the campus.
  • It is necessary for students to have a Library Card while using Library/Reading room facilities available in the campus.
  • It is mandatory to keep silence, maintain hygiene, and cleanliness in the campus.
  • In case of damage to property or equipment of the Institute by a student, he/she shall be liable for a fine (full cost recovery) as per the norms of the Institute.
  • Activities amounting to ragging, smoking, use of mobiles, consumption of tobacco, and consumption of alcoholic drinks/drugs are strictly prohibited not only in the campus and hostel but also in the vicinity of the campus. Stringent actions will be taken against those who indulge in such activities.
  • Students have to abide by the rules and directions of the institute for dress code and uniforms.
  • Uniforms are compulsory during all classes, Seminars, guest lectures, and official visits. However, subject to change, law students are allowed to wear acceptable and decent informal dress only on Thursday, provided it is only a class day.
  • Students are prohibited from indulging in acts of theft, malpractices in exams or tests, and sexual misconducts inside or outside the institute.
  • In case of violation of the code of conduct, insubordination shown to the authorities, or commission of any other offences, the students will be liable for punishment as per the norms of the Institute / local competent authority.
  • Students are not supposed to carry any valuables like mobile phones, jewellery, laptops, etc., in the institute/college campus except otherwise specially permitted. In case a student carries such items, it shall be entirely at the risk and responsibility of the owner/holder of such items.
  • In case permission is given by the competent authority to use mobile phones in the institute/college campus, it shall be entirely at your own risk and responsibility.
  • You will lock and park your vehicle properly at the designated place at your own risk.

B) Conduct in Hostel:

  • Hostels, paying guest houses, and rented accommodations are situated in the vicinity of the campus. You will have to follow all the rules and regulations of the hostels / paying guest houses / rented accommodations as laid down by the authorities over there.
  • Valuables like mobile, jewellery, laptop, excess cash, etc., if kept in the hostel, shall be entirely at your own risk and responsibility.
  • Students must inform their local/permanent residence address and contact details to the institute authorities at the time of admission. In case of change of address and contact details, the same must be immediately communicated to the institute. Otherwise, the communication / information sent on the available address will be treated as final.
  • You will follow all the rules and regulations of the hostels and institute. The liabilities for consequences arising due to breaking of rules shall be entirely yours. You will not indulge in any unlawful, unethical, socially indecent, and unacceptable activities in or outside the college / institute and hostels. If found so, you will be liable for punishment as per the rules applicable in the case.

C) Academics:

  • You are not allowed to undertake any type of jobs (full-time / part-time) at the cost of your health, attendance, or academics.
  • You will maintain your own records and personal file about admission, fee receipts, prospectus, industry visit reports, guest lecture notes, etc.
  • You will have to take permission in writing from the Principal of the College for leave. If you take leaves without permission, you will be liable for punishment, and regular absenteeism without informing may lead to cancellation of admission.
  • You are required to complete academic and co-curricular compliances/activities as per the stipulated time and norms of the program and that of the college, subject to satisfactory attendance requirements. You are required to refer to the respective notice board on a regular basis for important announcements.

D) Other Areas of Conduct:

  • The College offers various academic visits, training, field work, seminars, conferences, yoga, meditation in the premises, and outdoor training camps for the overall development of students. You are expected to make full use of these activities while observing rules of discipline and safety requirements. Although the institute arranges these activities, you will attend the same and take utmost care and follow all rules and regulations.
  • For activities such as national level seminars, inter-college competitions, quiz competitions, paper presentations, etc., the College/authorities will nominate candidates based on attendance and overall academic performance and behavior.
  • The College arranges various academic/industry visits. Candidates will be nominated for these visits based on attendance, behavior, compliance with various assignments, and participation in academic activities.
  • The College reserves the right to amend, modify, and change the norms, rules, and regulations from time to time.
  • In case of disputes, the decision of the Principal of the College shall be treated as final and binding.
