World Asthma Day 2025 Celebrated at SEF’s Suryadatta Institute of Health Sciences College of Physiotherapy (SIHSCOP)
SEF’s Suryadatta Institute of Health Sciences College of Physiotherapy (SIHSCOP) observed World Asthma Day 2025 with a meaningful awareness program organized by the Department of Cardiovascular and Respiratory Physiotherapy.
This year’s global theme, “Make Inhaled Treatments Accessible for ALL,” set the tone for the event. As part of the initiative, a poster-making competition was organized for Physiotherapy students. Through their creative and informative posters, students shared valuable messages about asthma — its signs, symptoms, triggers, and essential steps to take during an asthma attack. The displays aimed to raise awareness and promote better understanding of asthma care in the community.
The exhibition was inaugurated at the hands of Honorable Prof. Dr. Sanjay B. Chordiya, Founder President and Chairman of SEF, and Mrs. Sushama Sanjay Chordiya, who interacted with the students and appreciated their efforts. Prof. Dr. Chordiya encouraged the students to continue conducting such activities and highlighted the importance of healthcare awareness in building a healthier society. He shared an inspiring message, saying, “Do your bit to eradicate asthma in the coming decade — every effort matters.”
Dr. Seemi Retharekar, Principal, SIHSCOP, and a Cardiopulmonary Physiotherapist by qualification addressed the gathering and spoke about the important role of physiotherapists in asthma management and respiratory care. She praised the students for their enthusiastic participation and the department for organizing the program.
The event was coordinated by the department faculty — Dr. Rajkiran Tiku, Dr. Anjali Bais, and Dr. Manasi Deshmukh — who guided the students in preparing their exhibits and ensured the event was informative and well-organized.
Dr Chordiya concluded the program with an ‘Oath for the Eradication of Asthma,’ where all students and faculty pledged to spread awareness and contribute towards asthma prevention, control and management. A step towards Asthma eradication.
This initiative not only enhanced students’ academic learning but also encouraged them to actively participate in community health awareness.
