SIHS Conducts Thalassemia Awareness and Screening Program

Suryadatta Education Foundation’s Suryadatta Institute of Health Sciences (SIHS), College of Physiotherapy, organised a Thalassemia Awareness and Screening Program in association with Jankalyan Raktapedhi, Pune, under the Thalassemia Awareness Project.
The awareness session was conducted by Mrs Manasi Thakur, Pune District Coordinator, Thalassemia Awareness Project, and Dr Vaishali Jathar, who educated students about the genetic nature of Thalassemia, its prevention, early diagnosis, and the importance of premarital screening. Students also took a pledge to support awareness and help build a Thalassemia-free society. Addressing the gathering, Prof. Dr Seemi Retharekar, Principal, emphasised the importance of preventive healthcare education in developing responsible healthcare professionals. The initiative was inspired by the vision of Prof. Dr Sanjay B. Chordiya, Founder President and Chairman of Suryadatta Education Foundation, to promote holistic education and social responsibility. The program concluded with a Thalassemia Screening Camp, where blood samples were collected from participating students, reinforcing SIHS’s commitment to preventive healthcare and community well-being.

Suryadatta Group of Institutes launches Simulated Hospital Setup 2025 – “Suryadatta Dhanvantari Hospital: Navigating Healthcare in a Simulated Environment”
The Suryadatta Group of Institutes, under the visionary leadership of Prof. Dr. Sanjay B. Chordiya, Founder President & Chairman, Suryadatta Education Foundation, proudly inaugurated the Simulated Hospital Setup – “Suryadatta Dhanvantari Hospital: Navigating Healthcare in a Simulated Environment” This pioneering initiative is designed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world healthcare practice. By creating a comprehensive, multi-department hospital environment, the project provides students with hands-on exposure to hospital operations, patient management, emergency preparedness, and interdisciplinary teamwork. The hospital setup replicates Multiple Outpatient (OPD), Inpatient (IPD), Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Causality (Emergency), OT (Operation Theatre) labour Room, Blood Bank and Radiodiagnosis departments, Advance Physiotherapy department, Yoga & fitness, Alternate therapies, Deaddiction centre, along with administrative sections such as medical records, billing, and discharge processes. Special Patient Education Corners along with Pharmacy setup including Pharmacy store, community Pharmacy, Pharmacovigilance, Pharma Research & Development have also been created, where students promote health awareness through posters, presentations, and interactive stalls. The Suryadatta Dhanvantari Hospital – Simulated Setup is not only a unique academic initiative but also a social responsibility project. It nurtures clinical skills, decision-making, empathy, and leadership among students while educating the community about healthcare systems. Our goal is to prepare the next generation of healthcare professionals who are competent, compassionate, & entrepreneurial.” The initiative is a collaborative effort of various institutions of the Suryadatta Group – including the Suryadatta College of Physiotherapy, Suryadatta College of Nursing, Paramedical Sciences & Technology, Suryadatta College of Pharmacy Healthcare & Research, Pune Institute of Applied Technology (Interior Design), and Suryadatta College of Hospitality Management & Travel Tourism. This multidisciplinary collaboration reflects the true essence of modern healthcare, which thrives on teamwork and integration of diverse expertise. The program also featured mock Code Blue drills, Basic Life Support (BLS) demonstrations, interdisciplinary sessions, and interactive hospital management practices.
